Blue Streaks roll past Brahmans
The Sebring High School Boys bowling team shut out Okeechobee High School at Heartland Bowl on Thursday to finish the season undefeated. This was the first time the Streaks have achieved an undefeated season since the bowling program started and Coach Rick Wiltse had nothing but praise for the hard work and dedication of his players. "Our team has worked hard all season long to learn to communicate, to fill frames and to maintain good attitudes on the lanes," Wiltse said. "Those are the winning ingredients to our success!" In the final match against Okeechobee High School, the streaks were led by Thorsten Przychocki who averaged 216, along with David Daniels at 211 and Nick Brod at 201.5.In the first game, J.C. Bowen posted a brilliant 245, which was the high score for the team. Carl Daniels and Cole Rankin added their support for the win, sweeping Okeechobee 7 - 0. The Blue Streak girls started strong by winning their first game against the Brahmans, but they lost the second game of regular play and then ended up being defeated by Okeechobee in the Baker format, 4 to 3. Nonetheless, the Blue Streak girls had a winning season with a record of 6 victories and only 3 losses, a very good performance for a team that only began two years ago. The girls were again led by Adrianna Stacy who averaged 177 for the day, along with Marissa Andujar who averaged 154. Katryanna Barina, Jessica Chaney and Tejal Desai did their part to give the Okeechobee team a close match. The Blue Streaks will travel to Stuart on Monday to compete in the District 12 Bowling Championships where they are hoping to gain a berth into the FHSAA State Finals which will be held on November 6-7 at Boardwalk Bowl in Orlando. In other action, Sebring knocked off Okeechobee at Lucky Lanes on Oct. 21, and they rolled to victory over Lake Placid at Heartland Bowl on Thursday. At Okeechobee, the Streaks were led by Katryanna Barina who posted outstanding scores of 232 and 220 for a whopping 226 average for the day. Jessica Chaney was second high with a nice 223 game and a 189 average. Adrianna Stacy averaged 184 and Tejal Desai and Marissa Andujar followed up for the victory. On the boys team, David Daniels was high with a 210 game followed by Nick Brod with a 199. Coach Wiltse held back the usual starters against Okeechobee and gave William Brunner, Marcus Alviano and Jeremy Brod the starting nod. Along with Cole Rankin and J.C. Bowen, the Blue Streaks claimed victory in a 4 to 3 win. On Thursday, the Streak hosted Lake Placid at Heartland Bowl and again Sebring demonstrated their bowling talents with both the girls and boys winning in the first two games of regular bowling. Thorsten Przychocki and David Daniels led the Streak boys to a 6 to 1 victory, averaging and 224 and 216.5, respectively. Cole Rankin, Carl Daniels and J.C. Bowen backed up the team for the win. The Blue Streak girls also cruised to a 6 to 1 win, with Adrianna Stacy leading the lightning strike with a 182 average along with Katryanna Barina averaging 176 and Jessica Chaney at 171.5 for the day. Marissa Andujar and Tejal Desai gave solid support for the win. Sebring High School Principal Dr. Anne Lindsay was on hand to cheer the Blue Streaks to victory. Dr. Lindsay agreed that bowling was a fun relief from guiding the students and faculty at Sebring High. Dr. Lindsay has always supported the bowling program and the intention that all bowlers will be student/athletes putting academic achievement ahead of their athletic goals.
