SEBRING— A 74-year-old Sebring bicyclist, who was flagged down Saturday for riding without any lights, ended up facing drug charges, authorities said.
Francis Marion Bradley, 447 Oak St., Sebring, was charged with possession of cocaine and drug equipment, a Highlands County Sheriff’s Office report states.
A sheriff’s deputy stopped Bradley and noticed he put his left hand in his left pants pocket, the report states.
The deputy told him not to put his hands in his pockets, after which, he pulled out a tube of lotion, a cigarette lighter and a brown, tube-shaped item that appeared to be an altered cigar tube, the report states.
The deputy wrote in the report he found white flakes inside the tube, which tested positive for cocaine.
Bradley told the deputy he found the brown tube on the ground several days ago and decided to use it to store his medicines.
He said he did not know there was cocaine inside, the report adds. The incident happened at Sebring Parkway and Ridgewood Drive.
Bradley remained in Highlands County Jail Monday afternoon and bail was set at $1,500.
