LAKE PLACID — The Brotherhood Ride rolled through afternoon showers into Lake Placid on Sunday evening during the third day of their four day bike ride through Florida. The ride started Friday in Naples and stopped in Clewiston and Port Saint Lucie before coming to Lake Placid. Riders ate, showered and rest at the Elks Lodge #2661 and left Monday morning to finish the trip in Port Charlotte.
The Brotherhood Ride began in 2007 as a way to honor firefighters, law enforcement officers and emergency medical workers who have died on duty.
Tim Elder, a district manager with the Florida Forest Service and Lake Placid resident, was Highlands County’s local participant in the ride around South Florida.
