Man arrested on sexual abuse charges SEBRING - A man suspected of child sexual abuse in Winter Haven was arrested in Sebring, according to information from the Highlands County Sheriff's Office. Charles Anwhar Roberts, 36, 444 Hemlock Ave., Sebring, was arrested by the Sebring Police Department on warrants charging him with four counts of sexual battery, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, incest and child abuse. The victim was between the ages of 12 and 16, authorities said. The incidents leading to the charges occurred last March.
Woman accused of forgery SEBRING - A woman was arrested on a warrant this week after being accused of illegally putting the title of a vehicle into her name. Essma Lureisa Brifil, 44, 1908 Olive Ave., Sebring, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with making a false statement for a title, forgery of a public record and passing a forged or altered instrument. The arrest came after a woman, who was given power of attorney by an inmate at the Highlands County jail, went to put his vehicle in her name, but discovered that it was put in Brifil's name. The woman told authorities that Brifil possessed the vehicle, but never had permission to have it titled in her name. Authorities determined that the signature on the application for the new title appeared to be forged, the report said. Man charged with battering wife SEBRING - A Highlands County man was arrested on a warrant this week after his wife told authorities he choked her with a metal chain dog leash. Raul Peraza Sigler, 51, no address given, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office on a warrant and charged with felony battery. His wife had reported on Nov. 10 that during an argument her husband grabbed a metal chain dog lease, wrapped it around her neck and choked her. He eventually released her and left the scene, the report said.
