Man accused of burglary and theft of jewelry and guns
SEBRING - A Sebring man has been arrested in connection with the burglary of more than $50,000 worth of guns and jewelry from a residence, according to an arrest warrant released Thursday.
Jaquar Derraile Thyheem Mathis, 19, 733 Booker St., Sebring, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with armed burglary, grand theft, 15 counts of grand theft of a firearm and dealing in stolen property.
The arrest was in connection with a Jan. 24 burglary, the report said. The victim identified Mathis as a possible suspect, the report said.
Woman accused of burglary
SEBRING - A suspect in a burglary didn't wait very long to sell stolen items to a pawnshop, according to a report released Thursday.
Kristi Lane Hunter, 27, 1238 Melody Lane, Sebring, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with giving false information to a pawnshop owner, burglary, dealing in stolen property and third-degree grand theft.
The arrest came after the victim reported that while he was away from his residence, someone broke into it and stole about $3,000 worth of property, including a guitar, the report said.
Within 30 minutes of the burglary, Hunter, who was a neighbor of the victim at that time, pawned the guitar, the report said.
