SEBRING - Volunteer teams from local businesses and organizations will participate in the upcoming 2014 United Way Day of Caring in Highlands County on May 21.
Volunteer teams are matched with United Way partner agencies, and local nonprofit groups perform tasks the agencies may not otherwise have the manpower or funds to be able to do.
Day of Caring volunteers help out assisting clients, painting, landscaping, clerical work and others. This is an opportunity for local residents to make a "hands-on" impact and also view how their United Way contributions are being invested.
This year's sponsors are Budget Bi-Rite Insurance, Florida Hospital Heartland Division, Howard Fertilizer, Lykes Bros. Inc., The Andersons, Duke Energy and The Palms of Sebring. When the volunteer teams finish their tasks at 11:30 a.m., they are invited to participate in celebration luncheon at Buttonwood Bay provided by Chef Mac of Palms Court Catering.
The Highlands County Division of the United Way of Central Florida has been serving the local community for 25 years.
