Cocktails and Culture event celebrates Cuba
SEBRING - Join the Highlands Museum of the Arts and contemporary Cuban artist Hector Nieblas 6-8 p.m. tonight for the first Cocktails and Culture event to celebrate Cuba. It will be held at MoTA, 351 W. Center Ave., next to the Highlands Little Theatre.
Cuban cuisine will be provided by Chef Mac from The Palms of Sebring, as well as Cuban cocktails.

Christian concert planned at Circle Theatre
SEBRING - The Faith, Family and Friends Tour will present a Night at the Opry Christian country-style concert at 7 p.m. tonight and 6 p.m. Saturday at Circle Theatre in downtown Sebring. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 31 and 4:30 p.m. Feb. 1.
Several artists will perform. Dennis Agajanian is an acoustic guitar player who has performed at several Billy and Franklin Graham Crusades, Harvest Crusades and international USO shows. He appeared on "That's Incredible" and was once the fastest flat picker in the Guinness Book of World Records.
The Jayc Harold Band was 2008 winner of the Country/Bluegrass Album of the Year and 2013 Inspirational Christian Country's Top 5 for Group and Band of the Year and Top 5 Musician of the Year.
The Wacaster Family and Bill Mullis have been given numerous awards by Inspirational Christian Country.
Barbecue plates will be served for $7. Tickets are $15 for the Artist's Circle or $10 for general admission. They can be purchased at Dee's Place, or by calling 471-2228 or (205) 535-6773.
Dinner to ring in Country Fair weekend
LAKE PLACID - The Caladium Arts and Crafts Cooperative will host a turkey dinner to welcome Lake Placid Country Fair vendors and residents of Highlands County to the beginning of the fair weekend 5-7 p.m. tonigh at the Co-op, 132 E. Interlake Blvd.
There will be turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, vegetables, your choice of coffee or iced tea and home baked desserts. Tickets are $8.50. Dinner will be eat in or take out. The showroom will be open for shopping.

Pizza square dance on tap
SEBRING - The Buttonwood Squares at Buttonwood Bay RV Resort will hold a Pizza Dance tonight in the Rec Hall.
Mike Gormley will cue rounds at 7 p.m. and call squares 7:30-9:30 p.m.
Square dance attire is not required.
Dance club hosting The Skylarks
SEBRING - The Highlands Social Dance Club will host the music of The Skylarks 10-piece dance band 7-9:30 p.m. tonight at the Highlands Social Center, 3400 Sebring Parkway.
Dance to the big band sounds of the '40s, '50s and '60s. Snacks and sandwiches will be available; BYOB. Admission is $5 for members and $7 for non-members. Everyone is welcome, including singles. Dress smart-casual.

SEBRING - The Tanglewood Dance Committee will host a dance at 7 p.m. tonight featuring DJ ERX.
Do the hustle to the sounds of the disco era, including Donna Summers, The Bee Gees, Barry White and others. Prizes will be awarded for Best Dressed lady and guy, and Best Dancer.
Cost is $4 for residents with badges and $6 for non-residents.
Annual Country Fair on tap
LAKE PLACID - The Lake Placid Country Fair will be held Saturday in DeVane Park.
Nearly 200 crafters, local clubs and organizations, and entertainers will gather for food, fun and entertainment.
Sebring Mobile Estates hosting breakfast
SEBRING - Sebring Mobile Estates, 4108 Kenilworth Blvd., will host a country breakfast 7-9:30 a.m. Saturday.
The menu will include pancakes, eggs, home fries, sausage, biscuits and gravy, orange juice and coffee.
Cost is $4.
First Saturday Breakfast slated
AVON PARK - The First Saturday Breakfast will be held 8-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church, 1320 C.R. 64 E., one half-mile past Avon Park High School.
Fresh pancakes, scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage, breakfast casseroles and sticky buns will be available.
Cost is $5 for one serving.
Moose lodge hosting pig roast for Bravo Company
AVON PARK - Highlands County Moose Lodge 2494 will host a pig roast 2-5 p.m. Feb. 1 in honor of National Guard Bravo Company.
Music will start at 3:30 p.m. at the tiki bar. All Bravo Company members will eat for free.

LAKE PLACID - Gamma Epsilon will host a yard sale 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at 301 Dal Hall Blvd.
There will be crafts, clothing, books, decorative items, sports equipment and miscellaneous items. Proceeds will benefit the scholarship fund and other altruistic projects.
Annual rummage sale at DeeAnn Estates
LAKE PLACID - DeeAnn Lakefront Estates will host its annual rummage sale 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the clubhouse at 409 Stephen Drive.

The band plays a variety of classic rock and dance music.
DeMolay serving spaghetti lunch
SEBRING - The young men of DeMolay will host a spaghetti lunch 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Sebring Masonic Lodge, 1809 Home Ave.
Cost is a $7 donation which includes salad, spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic bread, dessert and beverage. Takeout is available and the public is invited.
AMVETS Super Bowl party
SEBRING - AMVETS Post 21 will host a Super Bowl party starting at 5 p.m. Sunday with games and food.
