Three men charged with tax fraud
LAKE PLACID - Three Lake Placid area men have been arrested and charged with filing false income tax returns to receive refunds, according to press releases from the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the middle district of Florida. Desmond Holden, Kinjonah Coston and Octavious Davis were arrested and charged with conspiracy to prepare fraudulent tax returns, theft of public money and aggravated identity theft. A federal indictment accused three men of obtaining personal information involving others and using it to file tax returns and get refunds, U.S. Attorney’s Office said in the press release. The IRS’s Criminal Investigation division investigated the case with assistance from the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office.
