Volunteer teams from local businesses and organizations will participate May 1 in the 2013 United Way Day of Caring in Highlands County.
Volunteer teams are matched with United Way Partner Agencies and local nonprofit groups to perform tasks that the agencies might not otherwise have the manpower or funds to be able to accomplish.
Jobs such as assisting clients, painting, landscaping, clerical work and many other tasks will be completed during the Day of Caring. This is an opportunity for local residents to make a hands-on impact with United Way Partner Agencies and also view how their United Way contributions are being invested.
Day of Caring sponsors include John Snyder of Allstate Insurance, Florida Hospital Heartland Division, Lykes Bros. Inc., The Andersonís, Progress Energy and The Palms of Sebring.
When the volunteer teams finish their tasks at 11:30 a.m., they are invited to participate in celebration luncheon at Buttonwood Bay provided by Chef Mac of The Palms Court Catering.
The Highlands County Division of the United Way of Central Florida has been serving the community for 25 years by understanding local needs and driving lasting change to build better lives and stronger communities.
