‘Wizard of Oz’ showing at Little Theatre

— The beloved children’s classic “The Wizard Of Oz” comes to Highlands Little Theatre starting Wednesday until July 20 at the Lakeside Playhouse.

Performances are set Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and begin at 7:30 p.m. Matinees are Saturdays and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.

After a twister takes dreamer Dorothy Gale from Kansas to Munchkinland, she makes an enemy of the Wicked Witch of the West, and must find her way to the Emerald City to see the Wizard.

“Click your heels together and join Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion, Dorothy and her little dog Toto as they journey through the magical land to obtain their heart’s desires. A fantastic musical treat for the whole family,” states a description of the popular musical.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for youth.

The theater is holding a lunch and show special July 12, says its Facebook page.

Those interested can buy lunch, catered by Mae Lee’s Deli, and a show ticket and meet Dorothy and her friends.

Lunch will be served from 12:30-1:30 p.m. and the show will start at 2:30. Adult tickets cost $25; youth tickets cost $20

Special STARS also will sell souvenir T-shirts at the shows as a fundraiser. Shirts cost $15 a piece and will be sold before every show and at intermission.

All proceeds will benefit Special STARS, a sports and recreational program for children and adults with disabilities in Highlands County.

Box office hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and one hour before shows start.
