Man accused of assaulting other man in dispute regarding vehicle

SEBRING A man told Sebring police when he tried to take possession of a vehicle from another man, he was assaulted and threatened with a rake and a hammer, according to a report released Tuesday. The other man, Daniel Edward Barker, 25, 1910 Fernway St., Sebring, was arrested this week on a warrant from the Sebring Police Department and charged with aggravated assault, battery and criminal mischief in connection with the incident on Sept. 28, 2012. The warrant said that Barker was furious about losing the vehicle and that as the vehicle exited, Barker jumped in and out of the truck bed and wanted to fight, the affidavit said. The victim said that when the truck was stopped so Barker could get some tools, a woman came up to it and punched him in the face and then threw a drink, which spilled on him. After that, Barker struck him with a rake and the woman punched him again, the man reported.
He also told police that Barker threatened to hit him in the head with a hammer, the report said. While the victim got away, he told police that Barker damaged the door to the vehicle during his exit.
