Doty Memorial Golf Classic

SEBRING - The annual All About Lawns Brad and Aaron Doty Memorial Children's Christmas Golf Classic will be held at Sun 'n Lakes Golf Club on Saturday. The four-person scramble will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start. Cost is $65 and includes greens fee, cart, lunch, beverages, raffle and door prizes, and range balls. Alan Jay Automotive Network and Cohan Radio Group will be providing hole-in-one prizes, and hole sponsorships are also available for $100. Two Tampa Bay Buccaneers cheerleaders will also be on hand to sign autographs and take pictures. Proceeds from the tournament will go to the Champion's for Children Foundation. Wild Turkey Tavern Dart Tourney

AVON PARK - The 27th annual Turkey Tavern Toy Drive Dart Tournament and auction will be held on Sunday at the Wild Turkey Tavern. The tournament follows the auction, but participants don't have to play darts in order to participate in the auction. Entry fee is $20 or $10 and a new toy. Cost includes a pulled pork sandwich and coleslaw. There are beer specials as well. A trophy will be awarded for dart winners in the men's and women's divisions. Jingle Bell 5K

AVON PARK - The second annual Jingle Bell Fun 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Fun Run, sponsored by The Jarrett Family Foundation, will be held on Dec. 13 at 6 p.m. at the Union Church in Avon Park. For runners aged 13 and older, the registration fee is $15 if received by Oct. 31, $25 between Nov. 1-30, and $25 between Dec. 1-12. Race fee includes a shirt, but there are no guaranteed shirts for those who register day of. The children's fee is $10 with the shirt, or $5 without it. Elk Hoop Shoot

LAKE PLACID - The Lake Placid Elks Lodge 2661 will be holding a Hoop Shot Free Throw Contest on Dec. 14. Youth ages 8-13 are invited to attend. The competition is free, but a copy of the child's birth certificate is required at registration. Call the lodge at 465-2661 for more information.

Lake Placid Senior Softball

LAKE PLACID - The Lake Placid Senior Softball Association is practicing to get ready for the 2014 season, which starts in January. If you are 60 or older, and would enjoy reliving your glory days on the diamond, then bring your glove, bat, and enthusiasm to Lake June Ball Fields on Wednesdays at 9 a.m. for hitting and fielding practice. Not in shape? What better way to exercise than with your equals?

Women's Country Club Golf

SEBRING - The Women's Golf Association of the Country Club of Sebring invites any woman who is looking for a ladies golf group to join them Tuesday mornings. Meals On Wheels Golf Tournament

SEBRING - The 14th annual Meals On Wheels Golf Tournament will be held on Dec. 14 at Sun 'n Lakes Golf Club. The four-person scramble opens with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $75 per player and $300 per team. Entry fee includes golf, continental breakfast, lunch, and awards. Highlands County Senior Softball

SEBRING - The Highlands County Senior Softball League will start on Jan. 6. The league is for players 60 and older. Practices are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Highlands County Sports Complex. For more information, call John Kloet at 414-4245 or Charlie Quinn at 765-271-2780.

Hammock Half Marathon and 5K Run/Walk

SEBRING - The sixth annual Hammock Half Marathon & 5K Run/Walk will be on Jan. 25 at 7:30 a.m. at Highlands Hammock State Park. This year's race will also feature a team relay made up of four individuals running 3.0-3.1 mile sections. The cost for the 5K is $20 through Jan. 17 and $30 through race day. Marathon fees are $35 through Jan. 17 and $45 after Jan. 18. Relay entry rates apply to all relay team members and should be submitted together with team name by Jan. 17. Race day registration will be from 6:45-7:10 a.m. The course winds through trails and roads, giving runners a chance to see unique areas of the park. Proceeds of the race will benefit the Friends of Highlands Hammock State Park. Highlands County Horseshoe Club
