'Lunker Louie' reels in bass 11-year-old films with pro angler Shaw Grigsby

LAKE PLACID - Bass master Shaw Grigsby recently filmed an episode of his show, "One More Cast," on Lake Istokpoga with Adrian "Lunker Louie" Echols, 11, as his special guest and fishing partner. Louie is on the cover of the Highlands County Lakes brochure, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission chose him as Florida's youngest Elite Angler in June. The show will air in February or March on the Sportsman Channel, said Louie's grandfather Dan Echols. The episode was done, in part, as a promotional show for the agency's TrophyCatch Florida catch-and-release program, Echols said.
On Oct. 12 and 13, Louie and Echols spent time on Lake Istokpoga with Shaw, his film crew and director, local guide Don Hatcher and agency biologist Paul Thomas. "Shaw and Louie fished, caught some nice fish, and talked about TrophyCatch and boating safety, and just had a great time," Echols said. On Nov. 16 and 17, Louie will be going to the Bass Pro Shop in Fort Myers, along with agency biologist Jim Sweatman and professional fishermen Scott Martin, Terry Seagraves and Bobby Lane to participate in a tank-casting demonstration and to discuss the benefits of TrophyCatch with customers, Echols said.
