Thousands of pounds of beef chuck product being recalled due to E. coli contamination.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSISIS) announced on Friday 4th that approximately 3,436 pounds of various weight boneless products labeled “Elkhorn Valley Pride Angus Beef 61226 BEEF CHUCK 2PC BNLS” were packed on Thursday, February 16. .

The product subject to recall has the company number “EST”. M-19549” within USDA’s inspection mark.

The products were shipped to distributors, federal agencies, retail locations and wholesale locations, including hotels, restaurants and establishments in New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland and Michigan.

The problem was discovered when FSIS conducted routine FSIS testing of beef obtained from this product and the sample was confirmed positive for E. coli. There are no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.

Most people infected with E. coli develop diarrhea (often bloody) and vomiting, FSIS said.

Distributors and other customers who have purchased these products for further processing shall not use or further distribute them. Items must be discarded or returned to place of purchase.
