Denver Broncos play Los Angeles Rams as part of the NFL Triple Header on Christmas Day

The NFL announced Tuesday that defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams will host the Denver Broncos on Christmas Day.

Week 16 will air on CBS and Nickelodeon at 4:30 pm ET. This will be the second game of the Christmas tripleheader announced by the NFL last month.

This game will put Los Angeles in contention with a longtime rival Russell Wilson, Who played in 20 games against the Rams for the Seahawks’ quarterback in Seattle. Wilson was traded to Denver on a blockbuster deal in March.

This will be the third year the NFL has played at Christmas.

Last year, Packers’ Christmas Day win over the Browns had an average of 28.6 million viewers on Fox, making it the third most-watched game of the 2021 regular season. The Golds’ win over the Cardinals averaged 12.6 million on the NFL Network, making it the second most-watched game in network history.

In the 16th week of this upcoming season, the league will play its regular Thursday night game on December 22nd. Eleven games will be played on Saturday, December 24, including one night on the NFL Network. After the Christmas triple header, the week ends with a match on Monday night, December 26th.

24 NFL games are played on Christmas Day, including two post-season matches from 1971. Most famously on December 25, Miami beat Kansas City 27-24 in double extra time in the AFC Division Round.

The full regular season schedule will be released on Thursday, but the NFL has already announced several matches, including Week 2 Monday Night Football Double Head and the league’s 2022 international series games.
