Spurs-Mavericks, scores, highlights, how to watch, live updates on TV channel

It’s finally time. Victor Wembanyama, the hottest NBA prospect since LeBron James, will make his regular season debut Wednesday night when the San Antonio Spurs host the Dallas Mavericks in the two teams’ 2023-24 season opener. Game tips at 9:30 PM ET and telecast on ESPN.

Wembaniyama’s debut has been anticipated for over a year, especially after a pair of exhibition games in the Las Vegas area last October when Wembaniyama went head-to-head with another top 2023 NBA draft pick, Scoot Henderson. Vembanyama dazzled in his French league games before heading stateside for June’s draft and playing in the Las Vegas Summer League and NBA preseason. Each time, he added another highlight — many times doing things we’re not used to seeing on an NBA basketball court.

All eyes will be on San Antonio and Wambayama this season, and it all starts on Wednesday. Follow Yahoo Sports for live updates from Vembanyama’s NBA debut, including highlights, scores and more.

Victor Wembaniama scored the first official NBA points

Sure enough, Vembanyama would score his first points on a deep ball. He also had two early rebounds and a big block in five minutes in his debut.

He then followed that up with another triple before being ejected for two fouls in the first quarter.

Vembanyama had a relatively quiet first half after being limited to two fouls. He scored six points to go along with three rebounds, one assist and one block in 12 minutes in the first half of his debut.
